In sad news today, the most storied franchise in MNWA history has folded. The Clowns (formerly Dragons) have to call it quits for the 2018 MNWA season. Manager Devin Nelson made the call after considering the circumstances of the new league format and the living situation of his players (all four pictured above aren't living in the state of Minnesota.)
The Clowns franchise began in 2012 as the Ashby A's. They underwent a name change in 2013 to the Dragons and went on to win the 2013, 2015 and 2016 MNWA Championships under the leadership of MNWA great Devin Nelson. Some of the notable Dragons franchise alumn are Zach Bussmann, Jay Zimmerman, Ryley Nelson, Andrew Lindor and Garrett Grage.
Moving forward, the MNWA will now operate with four teams and the specifics of that operation will be released within the coming weeks. The most immediate of the changes will be the free agency of the current members of the Clowns roster: Devin Nelson, Ryley Nelson, Jay Zimmerman, Andrew Lindor and Chris Neumann. These five will undergo free agency starting with a 48-hour waiver period. Managers will be able to negotiate and agree to "terms" with the players, but nothing official will happen until the 48 hours are up. This way, all managers will have an opportunity to communicate with the players.
The Waiver period will begin at: 3/18 3:30 PM CDT
The Waiver period will end at: 3/20 3:30 PM CDT
Stay tuned for updates concerning the season and the Waiver results!
--UPDATE--
The Oars have signed Devin Nelson and Jay Zimmerman.
The Elites have signed Chris Neumann.
Andrew Lindor and Ryley Nelson remain free agents.
